Marina Bay weather at a glance
Marina Bay weather barely changes in temperature through the year. Daytime highs stay around 31 degrees Celsius and nights hold near 25 degrees, so the question is never whether it is warm but how much rain to expect. Showers come in every month, often as a short, heavy burst in the afternoon, followed by sun again.
Because the bay is mostly outdoors, the practical rule is to plan the open-air parts for the morning or the evening and keep the middle of the day for a covered attraction. The air-conditioned domes at Gardens by the Bay are the obvious fallback, and you can read more about them on the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest page.

Long-term averages for the Changi climate station, 1991 to 2020. This is a climate reference, not a forecast.

The figures come from the Changi station, which sits on the east side of the island rather than on the bay, so a given day at the waterfront can differ. Use the table to compare months with each other, not to promise a dry afternoon.
Monsoon seasons
Singapore has two monsoon seasons and two shorter periods in between. The northeast monsoon runs from December to early March and brings the heaviest rain at the end of the year. The southwest monsoon runs from June to September. In the transition months between them, expect thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening, often with little warning and a clear sky afterwards.
In practice that means a light rain layer in the bag matters more than a heavy coat, and that a morning start at an outdoor site such as the Marina Barrage Green Roof usually gives you a drier, cooler window than the early afternoon. The OCBC Skyway at Gardens by the Bay can be closed in rain or when lightning is a risk, so keep a second plan for that part of the visit.
Best time to visit Marina Bay
The best time to visit Marina Bay depends on what you value. February is the driest month in the long-term average, with about 105 mm, so it is the most promising choice if you want to walk the full 3.5 km promenade. November to January is the wettest stretch, with December the highest at about 332 mm, yet the city is still busy and the evenings can be pleasant between showers. There is no guaranteed dry season, so treat any month as a month with some rain.
Time of day matters more than the month. Early morning is the coolest part of the day for the promenade, and the evening brings the Garden Rhapsody show at the Supertree Grove at 19:45 and 20:45. The Supertree Grove page has the current show times and the maintenance days to check.
Events through the year
The bay hosts a few fixed events. The countdown to the new year is held over the bay every year, so plan ahead if you travel at the end of December, when the northeast monsoon rains are typical. The National Day Parade in 2026 took place on 9 August at the National Stadium in Kallang, not at the bay. The i Light festival of 2026 is over, and the next edition is planned for June 2027, with the days announced closer to the date.
For rain days, the domes, the Esplanade and the Red Dot Design Museum are the usual choices, all covered on the things to do page. For a boat ride on a changeable day, the river cruise counters at the jetties sell rides on the day, so you can decide once the sky looks clear.
