Singapore river cruise tickets

A Singapore river cruise is the easiest way to see the old trading river and the bay in one ride. The regular bumboat round trip takes about 40 minutes. It leaves from the river, passes Clarke Quay and Boat Quay, glides under the old bridges and then opens out into Marina Bay, where the skyline, the Esplanade, the Merlion and the Singapore Flyer line the water.

The published fare for the standard ride is SGD 28 for adults and SGD 18 for children aged 3 to 11, as of October 2026. Note that the child age band differs from the one at the Singapore Flyer and Gardens by the Bay, where children count from 3 to 12, so check the age before you buy for a family. Tickets are sold at the jetty counters before departure, and walk-ins are welcome, which keeps the plan flexible if the weather turns.

What you see on the cruise

The route follows the river from the old trading quarter to the bay.

The river was the commercial lifeline of the city long before the bay was reclaimed, and the quays still show it. Boat Quay has the low shophouse row facing the water, Clarke Quay has the restored warehouses, and the stretch near the river mouth brings you past the Fullerton Building, which dates from 1928 and once served as the general post office. Once the boat clears the last bridge, the scenery changes completely: a wide basin, the long curve of the Waterfront Promenade and the skyline as one continuous wall of glass.

If you would rather see the same water on foot, the Helix Bridge page describes the 3.5 km promenade, and the Merlion Park page covers the stop that most river cruises pass at the river mouth. For the bigger picture of what sits around the water, the things to do in Marina Bay page is the best next stop.

Jetties

Four jetties are named for the standard cruise.

JettyAreaGood for
Clarke Quay JettyUpper river, restaurants and nightlifeStarting in the evening, close to Clarke Quay MRT
Read Bridge JettyBetween Clarke Quay and Boat QuayJoining at the middle of the river
Clifford Pier JettyNear Collyer Quay, close to Raffles PlaceStarting at the river mouth
Bayfront South JettyOn the bay, near Bayfront station and Gardens by the BayStarting on the bay side

You buy at the counter at the jetty before departure. Departure times are best checked at the counter on the day, because the timetable can differ from jetty to jetty. A good rule is to arrive a little early on a clear evening, when queues build up around sunset, and to ask the staff which jetty has the next boat if you are flexible.

Dinner cruise Singapore

If you want the river and the evening in one booking, a dinner cruise adds a three course bento meal for each paying guest. The guided evening cruise runs over Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Marina Bay and takes around an hour and a half. It starts at Fort Canning, at Tan Tye Place, so confirm the exact meeting time in your booking before you go.

Children who travel free do not receive a dinner, so add a paying child ticket if the little ones should eat on board. Guide tips are not included. Confirm the boat type and deck layout before booking if these matter to you.

Singapore boat ride options

The standard bumboat ride and the dinner cruise cover most needs. For a quieter start on the bay side, the Bayfront South Jetty is the natural place to ask which departures run that day, since it sits within a short walk of Bayfront station. For a ride that combines a stroll, begin on the promenade, walk to the Esplanade and the Merlion, and then decide at the Clifford Pier Jetty whether the boat suits the weather. Showers in the transition months tend to pass quickly, so a short wait at the counter is often enough.

Use the MRT stations around the bay to plan your local journeys. The getting there page lists the stations around the water, and the weather page helps you pick a day for an open boat.

New Year's Eve cruise

For the turn of the year, the river cruise operator advertises a special cruise on 31 December 2026, boarding at the Clarke Quay Jetty. The special cruise is a separate event, so the regular river cruise ticket is not valid for it. Departure time and price are published with the booking, so check those before you plan the evening. The countdown itself is held over the bay every year, and the boats on the water are one of several ways to watch. Read more on the things to do page.
