Changi Airport to Marina Bay: the main options
If you wonder how to get to Marina Bay from the airport, there are three practical ways: taxi or ride-hailing, a pre-booked transfer, or the MRT. Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) sits at the east end of the island, and the bay is on the south edge of the city centre, so you cross most of the island in either case. The Marina Bay airport link is not a single line, but each option is simple once you know the numbers.
As a rule, a taxi suits late arrivals and heavy luggage, the MRT suits a budget-conscious arrival during the day, and a booked transfer suits groups who want a fixed price. The sections below give the data. Once you have landed, the where to stay page helps you pick a base, and the Gardens by the Bay page covers the station you will use most.

Taxi and transfer from Changi Airport (SIN)
A taxi from Changi Airport into the city takes about 30 minutes and typically costs SGD 25 to 45 on the meter. That range is an airport estimate, not a fixed fare, and the final amount depends on the traffic and the time of day.
| Item | Amount | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Airport surcharge on taxis from Changi | SGD 6, or SGD 8 from 17:00 to 23:59 | Land Transport Authority fare table of November 2025 |
| Metered taxi to the city centre | SGD 25 to 45 | Airport estimate, about 30 minutes |
| Ground transport concierge, 4 seats | SGD 70 | Per ride to one destination in Singapore |
| Ground transport concierge, 6 seats | SGD 75 | Per ride to one destination in Singapore |
| Ride-hailing app | Price shown in the app | Book in the app and use the marked pickup points |
Taxi fares in Singapore add time-of-day surcharges and location charges. A pickup from Gardens by the Bay carries a location charge of SGD 3, so a ride to the airport from there costs a little more than from a side street. For the ride-hailing option, there is no fixed fare to quote, so use the price the app displays before you confirm. A transfer booked ahead into the city takes the guesswork out of the arrival, and it is worth considering for a group or a night flight.

MRT from Changi Airport to Marina Bay
The MRT is the cheapest way into the city. From Changi Airport station you take the train towards Tanah Merah and change to the East West Line towards Tuas Link, or you ride via Expo station onto the Downtown Line towards Bukit Panjang. The Expo route is the one to look at if your stop is Promenade, Bayfront or Downtown, and either way the trip includes one change. Check the live journey planner for the exact time on the day, because the travelling time depends on the connection.
Train times at Changi: the first train towards Tanah Merah leaves at 05:31 from Monday to Saturday and at 05:59 on Sundays and on public-calendar days off. The last train towards Tuas Link leaves at 23:18. Do not confuse it with the later service towards Pasir Ris. Plan a taxi if your flight lands late.
Fares for adults with a card run from SGD 1.28 to SGD 2.57 depending on the distance, valid since 27 December 2025. From 26 December 2026 the card fares rise by SGD 0.12 up to 3.2 km and SGD 0.13 beyond. You can tap in with a contactless bank card, but a foreign Mastercard or Visa carries an administration fee of SGD 0.60 per day of use, and your own bank may add fees as well.
MRT stations around the bay
Station names and line codes. Circle Line Stage 6 opened on 12 July 2026.
| Station | Lines and codes | Closest to |
|---|---|---|
| Bayfront | Circle Line CC34, Downtown Line DT16 | Gardens by the Bay, Helix Bridge |

The new Circle Line stage joins HarbourFront with Marina Bay and closes the loop. Some older notices still show the previous Circle Line codes for Marina Bay and Bayfront, so go by the station name when you read a sign. For the walk between the stations, see the Helix Bridge page and the Merlion Park page.
How to get to Gardens by the Bay
For Gardens by the Bay, the station to use is Bayfront, on the Circle Line and the Downtown Line. From there, follow the signs and the covered paths into the gardens. The Outdoor Gardens are open from 05:00 to 02:00, and the domes from 09:00 to 21:00, so a late arrival from the airport leaves you time for the evening show at the Supertree Grove. A promenade diversion has applied around the gardens since 4 May 2026 because of construction, and cycling is not allowed there, but walkers can pass with a short detour.
Driving and parking
A rental car is rarely needed for the sights around the bay, since the stations and walking routes cover them. If you do drive, parking at Gardens by the Bay South costs SGD 0.035 per minute, about SGD 2.10 an hour, with a daily cap of SGD 30, and the car park is open from 05:00 to 02:00. Electronic Road Pricing is moving to a new system, with ERP 2 planned from 1 January 2027, so check the current charges before you drive into the centre.
